DESCRIPTION:<p>Join us for an evening with author Irena Smith as she talks about her new book, <em>Troika: Three Generations, Three Days, and a Very American Road Trip</em>, about a road trip to California’s Central Coast that becomes a modern-day Odyssey, chronicling how we get from where we were to where we are—and what we carry with us along the way.</p><p>Irena Smith immigrated to the United States from the Soviet Union with her parents at age nine and now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her family. Smith holds a PhD in Comparative Literature and worked in college admissions for 18 years before publishing her first memoir, <em>The Golden Ticket: A Life in College Admissions Essays</em>, which won the 2024 IPPY Silver Award in Essay and the 2023 Sarton Award Gilda Prize. She is also the creator of two Substacks, <em>Personal Statements</em> and <em>The Curmudgeon's Guide to College Admissions</em>.</p><p>This program is for adults. It will take place in the Library Program Room.
